Principal’s Corner
Congratulations to Mr. Wright, Mrs. Sudsbury and the Intermediate Boys Volleyball Team who are the 2012 County Volleyball Champions! I know that Mr. Wright, Mrs. Sudsbury and the entire school are very proud of the boys and their accomplishments!
Report Cards go home on Friday February 17. Please take the time to read over your child’s report card with them and look at the Learning Skills and the recommendations that have been put forth to assist your child.
The Guest Network has been partially set up and should be up and running shortly. We are working through guidelines as to how it will work at school. We still need to control the use of cell phones at the school and are limiting the electronics use to classrooms only. Students are not allowed to be using phones or iPods for texting at school.
We are pleased to have the Steve Nash Basketball program at Ridgewood. This program, put on by the Boys and Girls Club has been a great addition to the Ridgewood community. Thank you for supporting as greatly as you have.
The students are enjoying the new mini laptops and the laptop cart. Thanks again to the School Council for purchasing these for us.
The staff has been trained in the area of Restorative Practices. Restorative Practices is an approach that proactively builds positive school communities while dramatically reducing discipline referrals and suspension. The practice works towards building an environment of respect and trust amongst the staff and students. On February 6th, students will receive their training and be updated on their part in making this system work. That evening, there will be a workshop for parents to attend to gain insight on Restorative Practices and how we are using it here at school and how you as parents will be able to put it into practice as well.
