Media release: TLDSB holds trustee elections

At the December 5 Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) Annual Organizational Meeting of the Board, elections for both chair and vice-chair of the Board were held.

Trustee Colleen Wilcox was re-elected as chair of the Board, and Trustee Esther Childs was acclaimed as vice-chair of the Board. Trustee Bruce Reain continues to hold the position of past chair.

Wilcox has been a trustee for City of Kawartha Lakes Ward 7 for the past nine years, which includes I.E. Weldon Secondary School, Jack Callaghan Public School, King Albert Public School, Leslie Frost Public School, the Lindsay Adult and Alternate Education Centre (AAEC), and the Virtual Learning Centre. Wilcox loves to read, golf, and entertain family and friends.

In her nomination speech, Wilcox shared that TLDSB is, “one of the most respected boards out there and that as trustees we should keep doing what we do and putting our students and our staff first.”

Childs has been with the Board since 2022 and represents the Town of Bracebridge, which includes the Bracebridge Adult and Alternate Education Centre, Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School, Bracebridge Public School, Macaulay Public School, Monck Public School, and Muskoka Falls Public School Prior to becoming a trustee, Childs had been an educator in TLDSB since 1999, holding various positions from Kindergarten to specialized education classes. Childs has a strong passion for equity, inclusion, wellness, and achievement.

Congratulations to Wilcox and Childs for their success in the roles of chair and vice-chair of the TLDSB Board of Trustees. Both positions will be held for one year until November 2026 when elections take place once again.
