Monday, September 30 is the “Picture Day” for Ridgewood. All students will have their pictures taken on this day. Also, September 30 is “Orange Shirt Day.” This day recognizes the survivors of residential schools – and acknowledges those who did not. TLDSB is committed to advancing the spirit of reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples. Orange Shirt Day was inspired by the experience and story of Phyllis’ (Jack) Webstad whose shiny new orange shirt was taken away on her first day of school at the Mission. Her story and Orange Shirt Day has become an opportunity to keep the discussion on all aspects of residential schools happening annually.
