Principal’s Corner
It has been a busy place around here since March Break! Our sports teams have been busy in their preparations for their tournaments. We have two new teams that have competed or will be competing shortly. We had a grade 3 and 4 basketball team go off to a tournament this year and from what I have heard, it was a very successful day for them. We have a skipping team which will be competing May 3 in Lindsay and they have been practicing extremely hard for their competition. I look forward to hearing about their results. Teachers are preparing students for track and field in their gym classes to get them ready for our school track meet.
Once again, I am asking that we take a look at the acceptable dress code within the agenda to remind us of what is acceptable dress attire for here at school. If a student is not dressed appropriately, they will be approached by a staff member and we can provide alternative clothing for the day.
Our classrooms all have the sound field systems installed in them now and teachers have been instructed as to how they work. Ask your son or daughter about them and how the teacher is using this technology within the classroom.
We will be going through some staff learning in mathematics this month. The staff will be involved in some collaborative learning in math and we will have two days in which half of the staff each will be working together to further our knowledge of teaching math to the students with greater effectiveness.
This month, we will also be going through a School Effectiveness Framework Review. On May 24th, we will welcome Principals, consultants, teachers and our Superintendent as well as the Superintendent of Elementary Operations in to our school to give us feedback on how to best move our school forward.
I encourage you to get outside to enjoy the warm weather and to be active with your children.
